Product Description
CTS 500K linear taper pro guitar pot with brass shaft. These are the highest grade pots available from CTS. Unlike most standard CTS pots that have pot metal threaded bushings and aluminum shafts, our CTS pots are custom made with solid brass shafts and brass threaded bushings that provide a super smooth feel with low noise operation and superior durability. Specifically designed for top performance in guitar volume and tone circuits. 3/8" threaded bushing for mounting through the top of the guitar.
- Low capacitance heavy duty carbon resistive element provides noise-free audio and a long life.
- Tight tolerance of +10%/-10% prevents tone loss from load mismatches and low pot values. (Standard pot values can vary by +/-20%!)
- Solid brass shaft provides a smooth feel, noise free operation and longer service life than aluminum shafts.
- Fine spline (USA) shaft for use as a direct upgrade/replacement in most American guitars.

Fan of CTS pots and linear taper
I actually use these for both my volume and tone knobs. CTS have a way of letting the full dynamic range of your pickups come through. I put these in a guitar I have 250ks in because the guitar was on the brighter side. But these did not add so much top end as they added volume punch clarity and even lows. I also like having the even decay of the volume vs the drastic difference you get with audio taper.

CTS Pots R Good
I have found CTS pots to be better than Alpha. They are not nearly as scratchy. They are about as good as it gets with carbon based pots. Well made, resistance values are accurate, operation is smooth. Works as advertised. Another thing about CTS pots is you can switch out the elements if necessary. I bought these and took the elements out of them and put them in two CTS DPDT push/pull pots because I could not find the DPDT push/pull pots in linear taper. I used this setup for tone controls and humbucker splitting in a guitar. Audio taper pots work great for volume control due to how the human ear perceives dynamic range in sound amplitude, or volume of sound. Audio taper pots do not work well for tone control because they are only effective in the last 1/6th of a turn. In other words they make almost no discernible difference in tone until the last 1/6th of their complete turning range, and at that point they introduce a massive change. Using linear pots for tone spreads the effect across more of the pot's turning range. Hope you find this useful.

Great quality LINEAR volume pots!
Really fine linear pots, which can be hard to find. For how I play, the audio and vintage audio taper pots really don't work well for volume. These are perfect, and very nice tolerances. One tested at 480K and one at 490K, which is quite good enough for me!
